Tips to keeping your milk frother clean

Your milk frother is used for most of  the drinks made with your espresso machine. Keeping it clean and well maintained will ensure your milk foam is lovely and silky smooth.

  • ‘Purge’ the milk frother before use. This discards any accumulated milk or liquid in the steam wand nozzle. A fast on/off of the milk frother will dispel any remaining liquid.
  • Purge after each use to clear out any milk that has been drawn into the steam wand after use.
  • Wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth after use. This prevents milk drying onto the frother which is unhygienic and difficult to clean off if left on. Wipe after each use to make it much easier to clean at the end of the day.
  • Soak steam wand nozzle in a solution of milk cleaner and water at the end of the day. Using an old foaming jug ‘foam’ a dilute cleaner/water solution (as if you were foaming milk.) This will give the steam wand a thorough clean. Wipe off with a clean damp cloth once finished and replace the nozzle.
